Let Thy Food be Thy Medicine

Last night I watched a documentary called Food Matters. This is the film from the trailer I posted on my first blog post. The trailer talked about some of my focuses for this blog; uncovering the truth about the food industry, and finding ways to be healthier. After watching the film I was even more inspired to seek the truth about food. This documentary is packed with information on holistic nutrition and it is empowers people to take charge of their own body and health through the use of food.

The documentary consists of eight nutrition and health experts. They talk about our country’s current unhealthy eating habits, the drug industry and the medical field. They talk about the toxins we are putting in our bodies. These are toxins we get from processed foods that harm our bodies and cause us problems like cardiovascular disease, one of the top causes of deaths in the U.S. The experts of this film provide information on vitamins and minerals that can actually help cure this disease. There are many illnesses and diseases that can be cured and prevented through high dosages of vitamins and minerals. However, there are many medical doctors that are not trained in nutrition. Actually, less than 6% of doctors are only trained in nutrition. Because most doctors don’t know enough about nutrition, they proscribe us pills that are more toxic to the body than we can imagine.

The experts also talk about certain scientists, nutritionists and doctors that have made amazing discoveries on the uses of vitamins and minerals. Many of their articles and thesis statements do not get indexed in libraries because if people found out about how to cure their illnesses through the simplistic use of food, the drug industry and medical field would lose a lot of money.

The film was produced and directed by James Colquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch who both studied Nutrition at the Global College of Natural Medicine in Santa Cruz, California. They were both inspired to create this documentary based off of their educational studies and personal experience.

Now, I do not want to give too much away about the film before you watch it. So here is a brief summary from the Food Matters website about what the film covers.

‘Food Matters’ the film was originally created to help James’ father overcome Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression & Anxiety. From that one success a wave of enthusiasm for the film followed and it has now been seen by hundreds of thousands of people in 9 different languages. ‘Food Matters’ discusses:

* How to use food as medicine
* Who needs vitamins?
* Is organic better?
* How safe is our food?
* Natural treatments for lowering Cholesterol
* Foods that fight Anxiety and Depression
* Natural therapies for Cancer
* Which drugs might do more harm than good?
* The best ways to detox, lose weight and keep it off!

If you check out their website, you can also find ways different to take positive action on your health.

I hope some of this has intrigued you enough to watch the film. If not, then here’s another short clip from the film about body detox and healthy weight loss, the right way. Enjoy!

    Good suggestion! I’ll have to watch it. I’ve seen plenty of movies in classes that deal with where our food comes from and how horrible it all is. Most of the videos just show mistreatment of animals or disgusting processing methods but none of them really suggest a healthy solution. The video sounds informative and interesting, just like your post! I enjoy reading your blog and thanks for following mine 🙂 –Lisa
